UR-VALAS

A Gorean trade market in a quaint shabby rivertown
WHAT IS THIS PLACE?
In a nutshell, it's a travel destination featuring a ship, a forest, and a small town with an inn and a market. You can rent private ship cabins and rooms there for a symbolic price, for a few hours or longer.
It also includes an arena where you can practice.
A BIT OF OOC INFO:
This sim is designed as a place of passage—a dynamic, in-character hub where travelers can pause their journey, catch a scene, and meet new faces. It’s a space where you can hide a captive, buy or sell slaves, open a shady business, indulge in a secret affair, torture someone, or live out your darkest fantasies—no questions asked, no judgment passed.
Ur-Valas is divided into several environments for your enjoyment, some metered and some not, each detailed further below. In short, it features a ship, a forest, an arena, and—at its heart—the town itself, which is unapologetically mercantile.
Ur-Valas is that strange, unexpected stop you’re forced to make. Maybe something went wrong on your journey, maybe you forgot something, or maybe you’re just too tired—or too cursed—not to end up here. Whatever the reason, one thing’s certain: it’s not the kind of place most would choose to live in... unless they truly belong.
LOCATION:
Ur-Valas is a rivertown situated along the River Verl in the renewed Margin of Desolation, nestled between Venna and the Vosk, and considered part of Arian territory. The town has existed for over a hundred years, but it only became a trade market about 35 years ago, when the Verl, a Vosk tributary river, was diverted to pass by it—providing a lucrative trade route and opening a gateway to opportunities to a town that had never before been visited. This transformation brought great joy to its peculiar inhabitants since they suddenly could interact with other people.
BACKSTORY:
(Obviously, this contains poetic license—crafted to make the location believable within the world it belongs to. If it’s not your cup of tea, kindly move along.)
It is often said that one will almost never encounter sadism or wanton cruelty on Gor, for the psychological environment that typically breeds such afflictions is largely absent. The Gorean master, it is claimed, seldom—if ever—inflicts gratuitous pain, nor would he abuse or torture the weak, as such acts are seen as offenses against honor. These beliefs have been repeated endlessly since time immemorial, deeply ingrained into the minds of the civilized. And yet, day by day, across Gor, countless examples suggest otherwise. Deviation from this ideal has become almost commonplace.
Some say it is the result of inbreeding in isolated settlements; others blame the practice of family-arranged companionships designed to consolidate wealth. Still others fault the Barbarians—claiming that Gorean men who bred with their slaves and gave their offspring up for adoption polluted the genetic pool. There are those who believe it to be nothing more than human nature itself—ever present, though once carefully concealed by strict family structures or dismissed as mere capricious tantrums.
One way or another, this phenomenon drew the attention of the geneticists of the Valgard family—a lineage itself plagued by numerous “deviants,” likely as a result of their own experimental tampering. Unwilling to see their bloodline slain, and equally unwilling to suffer public embarrassment in Ar, they devised a plan: to found and sponsor Ur-Valas, under the guise of observing these “deviants” in a natural environment. It would be a convenient outpost, a dumping ground where Ar—and soon, other allied cities—could discreetly send their shame.
And so it was that all manner of individuals considered abnormal or embarrassing found a place where they might belong: the fat, the ugly, the aging, the hysterical free woman, the sadistic, the cruel, the mad, the cheerful lunatic, the hopeless dreamer, the stutterer, the maniac. No matter the difference, no matter the excuse—Ur-Valas became the place to send them.
The guiding principle of Ur-Valas was always simple: to let the residents—and soon, the visitors—be entirely themselves. From the very beginning, it was decided that there would be no organized government, no enforced Caste structure. Anyone could claim whatever Caste or occupation they wished—at their own risk, of course, should an unhappy customer decide to test their claim. There would be no patrols or guards; instead, it would be the sword of others that set the limits.
Still, some semblance of order was needed. That came in the form of Tur Yor Valgard, the Initiate (NPC)—benevolent, devoted, and fiercely loyal to the rivertown. As the voice of the Priest-Kings, he blessed the inhabitants with life and freedom. He had no interest in burdening himself with the town’s countless disputes, so he established a few simple rules.
Upon arrival at the docks, visitors would be disarmed of any bows and warned: any serious grievance must be resolved through honor combat at the local arena. This message was delivered by the four sturdy dockmasters (NPCs), who also served another key function—they ensured no one could leave aboard a vessel with an unwilling resident woman. Tourist women? They couldn’t care less.
Tur Yor, who’s seldom seen outside his chambers, remained impartial. Always. When something terrible happened—and it often did—he offered no judgment, no intervention. To every scream in the night, every robbery, every rape, every bloody skirmish, he had but one refrain: ”It was the will of the Priest-Kings”.
Destiny, after all, is not always kind.
And soon, word spread across Gor of a place where people could live freely—have affairs without shame, dress as they pleased according to their origins, wear their hair however they desired, enact their darkest wishes, or take a captive to torture in some hidden corner. A place without judgment, without rules, without chains. The small rivertown earned a whispered nickname spoken both with awe and disdain: Deviance—a place to be feared, avoided, or secretly loved.
Over the decades, many attempts were made to destroy the town. But time and again, its residents—and even its visitors—rose in defense protected by Ar. The town endured, as did its reputation. It was not just a place. It was an idea: untamed, ungoverned, and utterly unwilling to die.
May it last a hundred years more.
GUIDELINES
COMBAT AND METER USE (OR NOT) PER ENVIRONMENT
You can take the ZCS meter, a titler and a dice roller at the landing.
🏙️ Town
-
Disputes: If a disagreement can’t be sorted between adults, resolve it with a dice roll.
-
Raids: Of course not.
-
ZCS Meter: Do not wear the ZCS meter in town if you can—this helps us avoid lag and keeps the town a social hub.
-
Combat & Capture: There is no permanent capture allowed in town unless there's consent - remember that you wouldn't board a ship without verification at the docks and tarns do not land here. Take those scenes to the forest.
-
Death: You can try to kill someone, of course, but their player will decide if they died (consent, consent, consent) or if a NPC took them to the Physicians and, believe us, the Valgard's are outfuckingstanding Physicians and will keep this person alive.
-
Capture: You can collar an available slave or woman and take them to your sim IF they consent OOCly - otherwise they will probably mute you and return to their daily thing. You can take a woman to a private spot and have your way without collaring her - that's ok. You can use a slave who claims to be owned by is not wearing a belt.
-
Challenging Others: If a conflict arises (e.g. insult to honor, dispute over a slave, a contested bet, even a coveted tunic), take it to the Arena for an honor spar.
-
These spars are non-lethal and are meant to be fun, competitive, and possibly end with both parties sharing a drink and becoming sword brothers.
-
-
Working Your Caste / Profession: Feel free to! Just go to work at the hospital, blacksmith, bakery, stalls, whatever you like. There's no one to talk to about it. Just roleplay being hired for it.
-
Valgard Family: Yes, you can roleplay being part of the family. They are many after all, famous for using surrogates, and companioned all over Gor. The singularity about them is that they are ALL Physicians and they are mostly result of genetic tampering since they are a clan of reproductive geneticists and eugenicists - some probably really nuts or with peculiar genetic markers. The head of the family is Lady Arita of Ar (NPC) and her first sons are the twins Darius and Jareth: you can roleplay being their siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts etc - anything that's not their offspring or known to them since they have been traveling the planet for a long time now.
🌲 Forest and Ship
-
Combat Style: ZCS meter is optional. Dice-rolling is welcome.
-
If using ZCS, wear the meter in Combat Mode.
-
If you prefer dice, simply don’t wear the meter.
-
-
Preference: Dice-rolling has priority. If someone isn’t using ZCS, please don’t pressure them to switch.
-
Purpose: The is the designated zone for capture RP. Classic style Gorean hunting and ambushes are welcome. The ship is for travel RP, obviously.
-
Panther Girls: Panthers are welcome in the forest —even if geographically displaced.
⚔️ Arena
-
Combat Style: ZCS meter is optional. Dice-rolling is welcome.
-
If using ZCS, wear the meter in Arena Mode.
-
-
Preference: As with the forest, dice-rollers take priority. Don’t pester others to use ZCS.
-
The Arena is for honor spars, challenge duels, and all forms of non-lethal or lethal conflict resolution.
-
You can use the arena for practices and even organize an event.
SOCIAL CULTURE OF THE PARCEL
Please read the Backstory section before continuing.
Yes, really. If you skipped it, go back now. It’s the backbone of the sim.
First of all, we have NO MODERATORS or ADMINS. All communications go through the suggestions box. There's no OOC group chat and no Discord because we are here to roleplay IC instead of piss each other off OOC and destroy one more sim with petty BS. .
❗ Someone being a jerk?
-
Mute them.
❗ Someone harassing you?
-
Mute them.
❗ Someone spamming you in IMs?
-
Mute them.
❗ Want to exit a scene or Fade to Black?
-
Roleplay doing that, remembering that FTB is just a skip of the scene description but not of its consequences. If the other player cannot get behind it, just mute them.
❗ If someone is breaking SL’s Terms of Service, use the suggestion box at the landing point to let us know. We take it seriously. That said, you know the drill: no children or minors allowed . Also, we don't care how many alts you play - LL allows up to 5 per IP, after all.
🩸 Slaves, Enslavement & Auctions
🛒 Slaves in the Market
-
Owned or unowned, slaves are welcome to roleplay freely in the town.
-
Unowned slaves may be that way due to abandonment or escape.
-
You're responsible for your exposure—if you're out alone and unattended, someone may attempt to take you by force (ICly). Want to avoid that? Simply roleplay being accompanied by an NPC (e.g., a guard, owner, or companion).
-
If you're restricted, wear a chastity belt.
-
You can work in shops or stalls, do chores, serve, dance or simply hangout with your friends IC.
🧹 Owned by an NPC
-
You may choose to roleplay being owned by an NPC, and work in town in that capacity (e.g., tavern staff, laundress, dancer).
-
This offers structure without requiring an actual player as your owner.
🔗 Want to be Randomly Collared?
If you're looking for spontaneous capture or sale RP, you have options:
-
Cage yourself at the docks.
-
Use the auction block and shout the classic:
"Buy me, Master!"
-
NPC a slaver who’s “trying to sell or trade” you.
📣 Auctions
-
Slavers and players are welcome to organize IC auctions in town at any time.
-
Whether public or private, use the auction block, market stalls, or make a scene—literally.
🌲 In the Forest? Meter On?
If you’re in the forest and:
-
Wearing the ZCS combat meter
-
Not accompanied by others
-
Outside of the NPC-guarded dock area
…it’s understood IC that you’re open to being chased, fought, and forcefully taken.
The forest exits bypass the main docks, so NPC guards won’t stop anyone from dragging you off.
👗 Dress Code: Anything Goes
There is no dress code in Ur-Valas. All cultures from Gor are welcome. Do not wear things that don't belong in the theme, logically: even captives from Earth arrived nude in the planet, so no excuse for modern items.
That means it’s perfectly acceptable to see this like but not limited to:
-
A free woman in shorts and topless if she’s Inuit
-
Someone in kimonos if they’re Pani
-
Short tunics if they’re bold, like the women of Ar
-
Huge wigs if they’re posh High Caste
-
Barefoot wanderers from the Marshes
-
Panther girls who came to trade
-
Curious creations made by the Builders
No one is expected to care.
You might be nitpicked by someone IC, and they might get nitpicked right back. That’s the market. That’s the danger. That’s the fun. However, what someone is wearing is no grounds for forced collaring - read the Backstory again and again.
Embrace the chance to see all of Gor in one wild, singular place.
📏 Height Rules (Yes, They Matter)
WHO is gonna police this? Nobody effectively but if the owners see it, you'll be banned silently for 24h and permanently if there's a repeat.
🚫 No to 11-foot-tall invincible supermen
We get it. You’re compensating for something. But here’s the deal:
-
It ruins animations (especially for adult scenes).
-
It breaks immersion.
-
It’s just not Gor.
The tallest man in Gor, canonically, was Ivar Forkbeard — and he was described as “almost seven feet tall.”
If you want to play someone with gigantism, feel free—but do the research and roleplay the realistic downsides such as limb deformities, terrible joint pain, fragile health, muscle weakness, fatigue, near blindness... to name a few. Otherwise, stick to reasonable proportions.
⚖️ Also… Balance Matters
-
Don’t be unrealistically short unless you're roleplaying a midget or pygmy.
-
Women: You want small breasts? Fine.
But if you’re also very short, please have well-developed hips to balance it out. -
The combo of C-cup, freckles, pigtails, and super-short? Not the best fit for the theme—no matter how looney your character is.
-
Due to SL scaling, a female avatar around 6 feet (in SL numbers) is actually considered a short height. That’s normal. That works.
🎲 Random Stuff – Please Read
🛑 AFK Policy
Don’t AFK here.
Ur-Valas is a 1/4 sim, which means we have a limited number of avatar slots before we start causing issues with neighboring parcels.
If you're not planning to actively roleplay, kindly don't idle here.
🗨️ Message Board
There’s a message board at the landing where you can:
-
Invite others into your RP stories
-
Recruit for your own sim or group
-
Share random IC events
Use it!
💰 Donations
We do have a donation box at the landing and inside rentals. There's also a beggar at the docks.
Anything you drop in goes towards maintenance and tier. Thank you in advance for your support!
🔥 About "Hot Scenes"
Let’s not be prudes—it’s completely normal to see explicit or heated scenes here. This is Gor, after all, and our town is infamously full of eccentric individuals.
-
Don't like it? Just turn your camera away. Don’t read it.
-
Writing something shocking or taboo? (ie. abortion, incest, waterworks, shitting on, bestiality etc) Be cool—take it to a private spot. Let’s not be that person who forces it into public chat for shock value.
🎭 Play the Setting, Not Against It
Ur-Valas is not known for normal people.
Feel free to roleplay surprise or ignorance, but don’t be a wild boar OOC. Respect the sim’s theme and the community that plays here. Take everything with a grain of salt. Turn everything into storylines.
⚖️ IC Actions = IC Consequences
If you play wild, expect IC repercussions from others - remember how crazy they can be.
Be a good sport. Take your licks in-character. If you don’t want IC consequences, then keep your character’s behavior tame.
🐾 Animals, Kur, Sleens and Larls
-
Kur, Sleen and Larls?
Expect screams, panic, and immediate kill-on-sight.
Don’t even try it. -
Animal avatars?
Yes, they’re allowed—but don’t talk. Be a good animal.
💍 Companionship
-
We don’t police your relationships.
-
Claim someone? Go ahead.
-
Have a companion? Wonderful.
-
Multiple wives? That’s your story.
-
Not our circus, not our monkeys.
Live your RP. Just don’t expect us to enforce your love life.
🌈 Sexuality and Kinks
-
This is exactly the kind of place families would send their “problematic” or diverse kin and tourists know what the town is famous for.
-
Got preferences? Want to try for one night someone you'd not try normally? Playing outside the norm? Exploring a side of Gor that’s rarely tolerated elsewhere? Free woman with high libido but not made for collar? Master who likes to be dominated in secret?
-
Good. That’s the point. Embrace it. Own it. Welcome to Deviance.
-
🛍️ Working at Shops & Stalls
-
Shops with rental signs belong to tenants.
→ If you'd like to roleplay working there, it’s polite to talk to the tenant first and check if they’re open to it. -
Just want to set up for the day?
→ You can rez your own stall temporarily by:-
Renting an inn room to gain land permissions
-
Or using a wearable stall setup (rezzed from your inventory and attached to you)
-
-
You can suggest a shop or stall at the suggestions box in the landing point.
RENTALS, PRIVATE ROOMS AND IC SHOPS
Due to the sim being a 1/4 parcel, rental space is limited. We can’t support a large population, so please be respectful of space and rental rules.
All tenants may set ‘Home’ to the parcel.
All rentals are non-refundable.
